Brinjal Raita/Kathirikkai Thayir Pachadi

I learnt this recipe from my friend Minati, who is from Orissa.She says that this is a specialty at her place and it is a must in party menus.She prepared this dish for me when she invited me to her home for lunch.I was like – Argh!You are making brinjals? But I found the dish very tasty and would like to share it.

Brinjal Raita/Kathirikkai Thayir Pachadi

Ingredients:

4 no. medium size brinjals

1 tsp red chilli powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

salt as required

2 cups curd

oil for deep frying

Method:

  1. Wash the brinjals and cut them into long pieces.Mix chilli powder, turmeric powder and required salt to the brinjal pieces and keep for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the brinjal pieces till crisp.
  3. Mix in salt in the curd and whisk.Add the fried brinjal pieces.Serve with roti or rice of your choice.
