Green Chilli Pickle
I had got 1/2 kg of green bajji milagai from the market, but alas no one at home was in the mood to eat milagai bajji. So i was looking for alternate recipes to use those chillies. As I came across this green chilli recipe from the blog ‘ A mad tea party’, I decided to make pickle with bajji milagai, by little bit modifying the recipe. The original recipe used medium sized green chillies.I also used gingelly oil instead of refined oil and added a pinch of hing to give it a southindian flavour. I am sending this recipe for BB6-Blogbites ( The Potluck Edition) event conducted by ‘Nupur’ of ‘One Hot Stove’.
Green Chilli Pickle
Ingredients:
4-5 no. green bajji milagai/bajji mirchi
2 tbsp mustard
1 tsp fenugreek seeds
a pinch of hing/asafoetida
a pinch of turmeric powder
2 tbsp gingelly oil
juice of 1 lemon
salt as required
Method:
- Wash the chillies and pat them dry with a clean cloth.Cut them into small pieces and keep aside.
- Dry roast the fenugreek seeds.Make a coarse powder of fenugreek, mustard with a small pinch of asafoetida.
- Place the powder in a bowl, along with a pinch of turmeric powder.Heat the oil in a pan till it gets very hot and pour into the bowl containing the powder.Let it cool for a while.
- Now add the cut chillies, salt and lemon juice and mix well. Green chilli pickle is ready to eat after 24 hours.
